A professional opportunity for a motivated RN to provide direct patient care to cellular therapy transplant patients and donors. This role works within a supportive interdisciplinary team to bring quality patient care to adult transplant patients. This position requires an on-call telephone service for patients.  This service is provided in rotation with other RN staff.


This is a full-time, day shift position at the Cancer Institute-Eastside. Hours are M-F, 8:00-4:30.

Job Summary

Provides clinical direction for all aspects of patient care in an outpatient setting. Demonstrates clinical competency utilizing evidence based practices/research  in all areas of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and outcomes.  Incorporates knowledge of safety protocols, cost containment and quality improvement throughout the nursing process.  Identifies patient, unit, and organizational priorities and incorporates into the nursing process.

Adheres to all compliance and policy and procedure requirements of the organization including, but not limited to:  license renewal, assigned training, employee health screenings, time and attendance policy, dress code policy, patient confidentiality, infection control, medication administration.  Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory agency requirements (JCAHO, DHEC).  Provides care within the scope of the SC Nursing Practice Act.

Provides nursing care from initial patient contact through high dose chemotherapy followed by stem cell rescue to follow up care post stem cell rescue.  Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient and family needs.

Participates with the assessment and management of allogeneic transplant patients for GVHD and potential infection issues.

Participates with taking call after hours and on weekends and holidays to provide 24 hour nursing coverage for autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplant patients. 

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Education

Associate's Degree- Nursing 

Minimum Experience

1 year- Nursing;  Oncology/BMT nursing experience preferred.
