Job Summary

The Surgical Tech-CVOR is responsible for providing technical support in the care and preparation of patients undergoing Cardiovascular surgical procedures.  Works under the direct supervision of the Surgeon.  Functions as an important member of the surgical team in the operating room and at times solo scrubs all levels of CVOR and trauma cases.


Must be able to take 12-15 days of call per month, including every third weekend. “Call” includes arriving within 30min of being called in. Understands “Call” includes being available 24hrs. 

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum Education

Job related course work beyond high school - Diploma in Surgical Technology.

Minimum Experience

No previous experience.

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses
Specific Acceptable Credentials (if applicable)

Certification with NBSTSA.  NCCT certification accepted if ST was employed as a ST in S.C. prior to January 1, 2008 or completed a ST military training program. (Lawson Code NCST)

In lieu of the Above Minimum Requirements

In lieu of the education and certification requirements, must be current with mandatory 15 hours annually of ST continuing education AND either have been employed as a ST in S.C. prior to Jan. 1, 2008 OR have completed a ST military training program.

Other Required Experience

Annually complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified for employment as a Surgical Technologist - required.

Certification with NBSTSA or NCCT is preferred - preferred.
